We all know that saying, “EAT TO PLEASE YOURSELF, WEAR TO PLEASE OTHERS.”

They say something like this in Hindi, “EK NOOR AADMI,DUS NOOR KAPDA.” Being a fashion designer I have had a keen interest in fabric since I was a child. Many people like me are fond of nice clothes. We can list here a huge data of this kind of person. From actors to ministers, from sports persons to singers, from authors to social workers and so on. Everybody likes to dress up nicely. Or, should I say they have to dress up like this. And if they have to   , then why?  Can anyone give the answer? Many can give. Someone would say, they want to look smart. Some people would say, they can afford to be fashionable, that’s why they dress up like this. And some would say, they are good looking naturally, hence everything suits them.

At some extent, all answers sound to be correct. Many public figures are too rich to afford high – fashion clothes. Many of them are naturally good looking, many are photogenic; few are already stylish. But one thing is common of all of those is, they all are in showbiz. Somewhere all of them have to attract people in a certain manner. Whether he is an actor or singer, minister or sports person. Everyone has to draw the attention of people. As they want to be famous and leave a stamp over the mind of their viewer. Even though they have to prove themselves, they have to impress first to the masses. As they say, “FIRST IMPRESSION IS THE LAST IMPRESSION”.

Though reputation plays an important role in image making, people spend billions on styling too. Because the style is what influences the people. The style is what can have an impact over the crowd. The style that flatters and flaunts at parties. Yes, you are known for your style. Here we can give a few examples of some personalities who actually were known for their typical style or their dandy appearance.

Elvis Presley was famous for his hairstyle, his skinny jackets, bell bottom pants and of course his singing. The al time fashion  diva , the one and only beauty idol, the heart throb of every youth ,

Marilyn Monroe  , will always be worshiped for her sexy dressing style and her all time deadly look. When it comes to Bollywood, we have our own chocolate hero, Dev Anand. He is known as the evergreen hero of Bollywood. He was famous for his dressing style.

One of the prettiest heroines of Bollywood is Mumtaz. She is my favorite heroine too. Was famous for her exaggerated hair buns and fitted draped sari. Her sari style became the style statement later on.  Not only these people, we can list out many more.

So, at the end of the day a question can be asked, why are these people like that?  Why can’t they be simple?  I would like to ask why they are still remembered by people! Everybody knows the answer. Though their work and talent have made them immortal. But looks matter too. We don’t say being simple is a wrong thing or it is boring. But if we pay a little attention towards our appearance, we can look better. Because there is one more saying in Hindi, “JO DIKHTA HAI WO BIKTA HAI”.

As a part of the fashion industry I always pay attention to my looks. Actually I have been a little dandy since my childhood. Many of us like to be dandy. Which is a good thing. So, whoever I meet, I try to improve their style by giving them some tips. Here I would like to say a few lines, “never hurt anyone, don’t make any one fool, just be dandy, super stylish and flaunt the world, by being cool”.
