Hum silaai kue sikhe? Ye to auratowala kaam hai”! “mujhe tailor nahi banana.”

Those were the prompt replies of some of young boys.

I am a fashion designer working in fashion field since a decade. Stitching and pattern making was my passion which  converted into my occupation. So I think, that stitching and pattern making could be a great career option. So,, when some of my friends were cursing the  government for not generating jobs, I asked them to learn stitching and create jobs for them and young unemployed  people like them. I got an impractical answer which actually encouraged me to write this blog.

As I am working in fashion field I have come across many people who have actually been in stitching field since long time and doing well for their families. But somewhere an echo is produced by them that more and more people should join the industry as the workload is high and the man power is insufficient.

The reason behind the insufficient manpower in stitching industry is the stereotype and conservative thinking of young blood which I have mentioned above. But if the youngsters think in a positive way they can grab the opportunity provided by stitching industry and make a good career in it. As the industry has a huge potential to flourish by investing few bucks.

What I have observed about my young friends is that they want to do nothing. They are ready to waste there precious time by wandering, doing unproductive things. But they don’t want to do the work which is not suitable to their status.  Yes there are many other fields to work in and to earn ;but as I am a fashion designer and working  in this field since so long, I know about  the challenges and returns people get by working as seamstress or tailor masters.

Anyone can start career in stitching industry with basic introduction and some practice with a sewing machine. No higher education is a primary requirement. By acquiring knowledge and skills in stitching one could see himself at a socially prestigious level.

I know few people who had started working as a tailor and they are running their own boutique successfully. I think any honestly done job is prestigious and as valuable as any other occupation. So I would like to encourage young people to get into the field as there is a huge opportunity to grab.

So All my young friends! A very unique, attractive and creative field is calling for you. So what are you waiting for? Just catch those wheels and let the world see you getting successful.
